Note to Parents: Dear Parents
Monday: Objective: To work with new vocabulary, adjectives of nationality, and saber and conocer. We will begin with a review of the vocabulary on pages 74-75. We will have a quiz on these words on Friday. We will review adjectives of nationality on page 80 and saber and conocer on page 81.
Homework: Copy vocabulary on pages 83 and 86 into notebooks and begin to study the vocabulary on pages 74-75 for the quiz on Friday.
Tuesday: Objective: To work with the new vocabulary and demonstrative adjectives. We will work with the new vocabulary on pages 74 and 75. We will also review the vocabulary on pages 83 and 86. We will have a quiz on these words next week. Demonstrative adjectives will be introduced on page 82 and we will complete a worksheet in class on demonstrative adjectives.
Homework: Activity 1 on page 92.
Wednesday: Objective: To work with the new vocabulary, demonstrative adjectives, and stem-changing verbs in the preterite tense. We will review the vocabulary on pages 74-75 for the quiz that will be given on Friday. We will review Activity 1 on page 92 and continue to work with demonstrative adjectives. Stem-changing verbs in the preterite tense will be introduced on page 84.
Homework: Copy the verbs on page 84 into notebooks and do Activities 12 and 13 on page 85. Also, study for the vocabulary quiz that will be given on Friday.
Thursday: Objective: To work with the new vocabulary, demonstrative adjectives, and stem-changing verbs in the preterite tense. We will drill and practice the new vocabulary for the quiz that will be given on Friday. We will watch the lesson video. Demonstrative adjectives and stem-changing verbs in the preterite will be reviewed and we will complete activities 4 and 5 on page 93.
Homework: Study for the vocabulary quiz on pages 74-75.
Friday: Objective: To work with the new vocabulary and reading and translating. We will begin with a review of the vocabulary and then the quiz will be given. We will read and translate pages 76-77 and 88-91. We will review the work we covered this week in class.
Homework: Study the lesson.

Preterite Tense Past tense
The preterite is used to express a completed, one time, or specific action in the past. Some words that would indicate that the preterite should be used are: ayer, anoche, la semana pasada, el mes pasado, el ano pasado, etc.

Ar verbs in the Preterite
A verb that ends with a car, gar, zar, has the following endings in the Yo form.
car -- que gar—gue zar—ce There is no stem- changing for ar verbs in the preterite.
ER verbs in the Preterite
No stem-changing for er verbs in the preterite.
Dar and ver take the endings of er/ir verbs with one exception, there are no accents on the yo and el forms.
Aer, eer, uir, and oir have a spelling change in the preterite. On the el, ella, Uds. And ellos, ellas, Uds. forms, the “i “ becomes a “y”. Example: leer - el leyo, ellos leyeron
oir - el oyo, ellos oyeron Also, the i of these verbs, with the exception of the uir verbs, have an accent on the i
in all the other forms - ex. leiste.
Ir verbs in the Preterite
If the ir verb has a stem change in the present, it also has a stem change in the preterite. This stem change will occur on the el, ella , Ud., ellos, ellas, Uds. Forms.

The preterite of ir and ser are conjugated, are the same in the preterite tense.

The imperfect tense is a past tense. It is used to express a repeated or habitual past action, also to express time, age, and weather in the past.
