Weekly Activities

Week of September 3  Students will review basic vocabulary of Italian I, II and III through practice with vocabulary lists, worksheets, writing original sentences and various puzzles to reinforce the vocabulary.

Week of September 8  Students will  introduce themselves to the class through an oral presentation; they will continue to review the vocabulary of previous years using the techniques mentioned above. Monday Conversation practice (Each student will say 2-3 sentences about his/her weekend activities.); review of vocabulary a-c for Wednesday's quiz.  Tuesday  Oral presentation.  Wednesday Quiz- review vocabulary a-c.  Thursday Presentation of new list of review vocabulary d-e. Friday Group activity--Create an original dialog of story containing vocabulary d-e

Week of September 15 Students will continue to review Italian I-III vocabulary through practice with vocabulary lists, question/answer exercises, worksheets, writing original stories and dialogs, as well as providing antonyms, synonyms and definitions.  Monday Quiz review vocabulary d-e; conversation practice.  Tuesday  Review of corrected quizzes; presentation of new vocabulary list  (f-l).  Wednesday Review of vocabulary f-l, practice with word search and crossword puzzles.  Thursday Students will work in groups to write an original dialog or story using the vocabulary from vocabulary f-l.  Friday Quiz  Vocabulary f-l; presentation of review vocabulary m-o.

Week of September 22  Students continue to review Italian I-III vocabulary through vocabulary lists, worksheets, writing sentences and dialogs, as well as providing antonyms, synonyms and definitions.  Monday Conversation practice; review of vocabulary m-o through correction of homework.  Tuesday Further review of review vocabulary m-o through peer correction of original sentences on chalkboard.  Wednesday  Quiz vocabulary m-o; presentation of vocabulary list p-z. Thursday Review of vocabulary p-z; practice with vocabulary;  correction of original sentences from homework; word search with vocabulary p-z. Friday  Correction of crossword puzzle; group work to write an original  story using the m-o and p-z review words.  

Week of September 29  Students will complete their review of Italian I, II and III vocabulary and begin their study of Italy's geography,  Monday  Quiz- vocabulary p-z; begin a-z review.    Thursday Prepare for a-z test (correction of worksheet, play Jeopardy)  Friday  Test a-z. 

Week of October 6   Students will view their corrected a-z vocabulary tests;  they will continue to improve their conversation skills; in addition the will begin their study of the influence of Italian on English .       Monday   Review of corrected tests; conversation practice.   Tuesday  Presentation of  "L'influsso dell italiano sull'inglese" p. 499; discussion of the origin of Italian and the presence of cognates. Wednesday   Review of cognates; presentation of Italian words that are used in English related to food and drink.  Thursday    No school   Friday Review of Italian words used in English related to food and drink.

Week of October 13 Students will complete chapter 31 and be evaluated on their mastery of the material contained in it.  In addition, they will begin their study of Italian geography starting with general information (names of regions, mountains, rivers, etc.) Monday Completion of crossword related to chapter 31 vocabulary, discussion of Christopher Columbus and Italian-American Heritage month.  Tuesday Review of chapter 31 for tomorrow's test; conversation practice.  Wednesday  Test on chapter 31; begin chapter 32 "La geografia dell'Italia"  Thursday Review of corrected tests; continue study of Italian geography. Friday Reading of La geografia dell'Italia, Superficie, Abitanti, Clima; p.503.

Week of October 20  Students will continue their study of Italian geography concentrating on northern Italy.  Monday Conversation practice- Students will go to the board, write 2 sentences about their weekend, read the sentences to the class and then have the class correct their errors.  In addition, they will watch the video "Visions of Italy-Northern Style".  Monday Conversation practice/writing practice. Tuesday Reading and discussion of p. 503 Montagne e cime principali, Fiumi e Laghi and Vulcani; viewing of "Visions of Northern Italy".  Wednesday Reading and discussion of p. 505 and Divisione geografica and 4 of the northern regions; viewing of Francesco's Italy-Top to ToeThursday Reading and discussion of p.505-last 4 regions of northern Italy ; completion of Top to Toe.  Friday  Quiz- Northern Italy; video on Milano.

Week of October 27  Students will continue to study the geography of Italy. They will view videos related to Tuscany, Umbria, and Lazio. Monday Review of corrected quizzes; conversation practice; review of facts from the video.  Tuesday  Reading of  p. 506 (first 2 regions of central Italy).  Wednesday Continuation of reading of page506 ( regions 3 and 4 of central Italy)  Thursday Review of exercises related to central Italy Friday Reading of Una notte scura a poem related to Halloween; word search on Halloween words. 

Week of November 3 Fall Break

Week of November 10  Students will continue to study the geography of central and southern Italy. Monday Conversation practice; review of the 4 regions previously discussed.  Tuesday Completion of the regions of central Italy; viewing of Planet Food.  Wednesday Quiz on central Italy.
